| - The Blue Fin is a place I have probably driven by 100 times, either coming/going to work or heading to the library. I didn't even realize it was actually open until I got onto Yelp and saw some reviews. So close to my office, I had to try it out.....on a Sunday when it was closed. Oops. Let's try this again, for lunch
The place ain't big, so make sure you get there early, especially if you have more than 4 people. I also noticed they had their iced tea and lemonade in massive buckets, which is the ONLY way to serve beverages in my humble opinion. Quite like a lot of places in the area, the Blue Fin has a massive amount of pictures of their food up on the wall, so it does make choosing a meal that much more easy. A quick moving line and a 5 minute wait later, I had my teriyaki chicken bowl and was back to the office.
First off, this is a pretty big meal for the price. It's a great lunch option for what you pay for. Having said that, it's not great. The rice was a little over-cooked, which I actually like, but some people may be put off by, especially with how sticky it was. The chicken itself was good, but also had been either cooked or sat under a heat lamp for too long. Damn the salmonella, I want my chicken cooked just enough to stop clucking!! The sauce was very good though, and really brought the meal together.
Overall, it's a solid place for the price. I wouldn't go out of my way to go there when I am not downtown, but I am sure to head back during a busy lunch hour. Worth the visit
