I have only flown a total of four times at this point in my life and for Charlotte being a big airport I found it quite manageable. It is a very well organized airport, even for the holiday season. The signs are big and easy to follow, the staff very friendly if you have a question. There are lots of shops and restaurants to drift through and space to sit and soak up the sun or take a walk. The amenities they have are abundant and do not come off as excessively chain-y. There is a chapel for prayer, a room for mothers, a full wall of windows with white rocking chairs underneath.
My main note- the parking area is under construction right now and the corkscrew ramp up kind of makes you feel like you're on a Hot Wheels track. Take it slow if your car doesn't have a great turn radius.
Overall I really enjoyed my experience there, finding it to be a surprisingly relaxing place when travel itself can be stressful.
