This review is for a trip to the ER at Toronto East General. This was Friday night around midnight, and the wait was about 3 hours for me at that time. There were 4 people that I interacted with.
1) Initial triage nurse. She was friendly enough and got me through without much hassle, but it was hard to tell at first when I would be seen. A numbered waiting system would be better.
2) Admissions secretary. Again, friendly enough and got me through without problems.
3) ER nurse. This one does a more in-depth assessment. This one was very aloof and not very pleasant. I first walked in, didn't know where to go, and she told me to "just stand there and we'll get to you". So I stood with no concept of when I'd be talked to until finally someone came around. Extremely poor way of handling it.
4) Doctor. Finally, I saw the doctor, a young man named Dr. Kaufman. Very pleasant and helpful guy who made the whole wait feel like it was worth it in the end. So hats off to him for basically making up for the other staff.
Overall, some more communication would have helped greatly, and they were lucky that Dr. Kaufman was working that day, as he made up for the other staff.
