  • My lovely friend gave me a gift certificate for an hour massage here, and to treat Neil before heading off to Army camp, I decided to make it an hour long couple's massage. Massage Heights makes are really good impression immediately. I love it when the receptionist knows all the specials listed on the website, and offers me the freebies instead of me having to remind/ask for them. For example, for first time guests, you get free aromatherapy and their "elevations" were half off. I went with a Swedish massage, lavender scent (for relaxation) and the peppermint foot scrub. Hubby got deep tissue, lavender and hot stone elevation. The good impressions continue as you walk into the space. The design is clean and modern, without being cold and intimidating-- slate greys, blues, white. The massage area is calm, clean and peaceful. The massages were nice. Both ladies seemed skillful, spent time working out knots, and always applied the right amount of pressure. Overall, it was pretty uneventful, which is a good thing in my book. At the end, they give you a prescription pad looking sheet of paper with their recommendations on how many massages a month you should be receiving, a "lifestyle type" to follow, and I think something else. Kinda hokey, but they didn't put the hard sell on us, which I deeply appreciate. The introductory massages were $40 each, the hot stone elevation was $20 (sale), and my peppermint foot scrub was $12 (sale). Using my gift certificate and the sale pricing, I was satisfied. If I'd paid full price, though, I would have been disappointed. First, I don't like that the purchased add ons (aka, elevations) are incorporated into the hour. I think they should add time to the hour massage. I almost feel like I'm getting less and paying more. I really would have been unsatisfied had I paid for the aromatherapy. Seriously, all it entailed was smelling lavender lotion 6 times. Second, there are a few too many signs about tipping and a few too many tipping envelopes in every available space. I get it. I'll tip. Third, the massage area and masseuses had a little too much of a corporate-y feel to them for my taste. Definitely go and try out the intro pricing, though. It's well worth the $40!
