  • Beware... I was referred to Novocur due to a pinched nerve in my spine, I got an appointment straight away (on a Friday), which was good. The staff was friendly, the place was clean. Dr. Thomas recommended an epidural to reduce swelling, said I may have success with one treatment, if not we could revisit with another procedure and if, after three treatments without results, would have to look at other options. I have been in pain for 4 months, and haven't slept more than 2 hours a night since then. They had me scheduled for the epidural the following Tuesday (one person in the office contacted my insurance for verification it would be covered and said it was). On Monday I got a call from another person in the office saying my insurance did not cover the procedure but I could pay out of pocket and it would cost $600, and I would need three treatments. What? Wait? Ok, I'm in enough pain to pay the $600 to see if it helps. I go to sign in on Tuesday and am told that the procedure was misquoted and actually costs $990... What? Wait? Upon questioning this situation I was told (by another person) that the person who quoted me the $600 didn't know what she was doing and had no business talking to me about pricing - seriously? Then I was told that Dr. Thomas had changed his mind about the epidural and, instead of doing a unilateral, was going to do a bilateral, and I had to come for three treatments - without even knowing if the first would work or not, and, by the way, without discussing any of this with me, the patient!!! I also had asked how much they would bill my insurance as, if I would agree to three treatments, it might be more beneficial to run it through them; since the price went from $600 to $2970 in a matter of minutes. They would bill my insurance $29,500 (this is not a typo) this is why insurance rates are so high, and so many people cannot afford it (but that's another story for another platform). They said that the cost of anesthesia was included I put on the brakes... the "Dr" never mentioned anything about anesthesia, I cannot take it, no alternatives were discussed - nor was my actual procedure ever discussed with me. I had no choice but to leave, I could never feel comfortable with someone just sticking a needle in my spine if they cannot even run an office properly. When I announced I was leaving I was answered with a cheery, ok! And will most likely never hear from anyone there ever again, even tho they're the healthcare provider who botched up the communication with their patient... ugh.
