Embarrassing customer service on numerous occasions by a particularly unhelpful woman prompted me to ask her what her name was and when the manager would be in. She replied that she was the manager! With a Starbucks across the street, it's curious that they would be so rude. At present it's 10 degrees fahrenheit, too cold to drink ice water, and I ordered a coffee and a cup of water without ice. The conversation went like this
me: ...and a water with no ice.
her: there's water on the counter
me: it has ice in it
her: yes it does
me: could i have a cup of water without ice?
her: the ice won't come out of the water over there
me: but its still ice water. i'd like a regular water, its too cold for ice water.
her: its regular water
me: without ice?
her: no there's ice in it.
me: this is why i go to starbucks.
Maybe if I were more of a fan of Laurel and Hardy this place would have a charm. Sadly, the coffee here is locally roasted by very talented roasters, the only good thing this place has going for it. Bagels and food are mediocre though not totally overpriced. If i wanted a mediocre drink and accommodating service, I would patron starbucks. In the future I think i'll just settle for burnt coffee rather than trying to speak sensibly to nonsensible people. It takes repeated negative experiences to make me choose starbucks over a local chain. :(
