  • Ambiance - 5. Food - 3. Service - 1. Went to Hanny's on a Tuesday night. It wasn't busy, but when we asked for a table for 8, it was like we were really putting them out. They sat us at a table for 6, so we crammed together. It's OK, we're all friends. The server didn't tell us her name the entire 2 hours we were there. She got pretty upset when one of the older people in our party (who could barely read the menu thanks to low lighting and presbyopia) didn't yet know what she wanted to drink. One member of our party ordered food while the server was taking drink orders, and that seemed to be a real inconvenience. Another member asked for a drink a certain way and was told he couldn't have it so (it wasn't a crazy request - less vermouth, please). She just seemed annoyed with us the entire time. We had told the staff that there might be a 9th person joining us, so they were apprised. When #9 did show up and sat in a chair at the next table (because there was barely anyone in the restaurant and our table was packed), I overheard the server talking about him sitting there when he "wasn't told" to do so. She then proceeded to tell the other server, "now we can't seat that table." They whisked away one of the two vacant tables, and I asked my friend to move to our table. When the server came back and I confronted her about it, telling her she simply could have asked #9 to move, she backtracked, saying that there was no problem. I replied with, "that's not the exchange I overheard." No apology, no explanation, just more backtracking. About 10-15 minutes later, they seated a party of 2 at the single table (which never had been occupied by any of us and there was plenty of room). Just really, really terrible service. I've been there a few times, have never really been blown away except by the cool old department store theme, but can't say I'll ever be back again if the decision's up to me.
