A lot has changed about this airport over the years. They are in the middle of renovations currently.
My favorite memories about this airport were coming when my aunts and uncles from out of town, and my mom would bring us to pick them up. This was pre-9/11 when you could walk to the gates. My younger sister and I were fascinated by the order and the planes. But this airport has greatly changed since the mid-1980's since my first visits. It wasn't until my first flight in the early 1990's, in my late teens that I was able to fulfill my dream of boarding a plane and departing the gate. This airport has changed over the years to match with the times. I do like how there are charging stations for electronics. There are still spots of major construction, from the drop-off and pick-up areas to on the concourses. Everything is neat and clean. On my most recent visit, I only had my carry on so I can not speak about the baggage claim, but, generally speaking, I have never had an issue here with baggage claim. Checking in for flights is fairly easy.
There are plenty of stores near gates to choose from if you have forgotten that last minute gift or book or bottle of water. I have never had simply a layover here, this has always been my origin of start or end to a trip, so I can not speak to the layovers.
