| - This might deserve 5*. I'll let you know when I have a membership conversation with a 'fitness counselor' in a few days and figure out what kind of membership options are available.
For now, though, I've been working out here for free on an introductory trial, and am very impressed. The gym is brand new (as of early 2010), and has an incredible variety of best-in-class machines , including some cool pieces of equipment I had never before seen. The space itself is very large, and since there are still only a very small number of members, it usually feels quite empty and there's never a wait for anything.
The problem with assessing (and joining) a brand new gym, of course, is that you can't predict what it will be like when its membership roster has stabilized, or how well the equipment will be maintained. I think I need to check out some other GoodLife clubs in town to get some sense of this...
Bonus points for being open 24 hours during the week, even though my days of working out at ridiculous hours are long behind me (in my 20s I would regularly go to the gym after I came home from a night of clubbing).
