  • As I travel to more indie coffee shops, I think I know what I'm looking for and surprisingly, it's not the best cup of coffee. What I'm looking for: friendly service, relaxed atmosphere and a place to just chit chat. I went here before I picked up food for my guests and had an iced coffee with a doggie square. The amaretto iced coffee was so good because they ground the beans fresh in front of you. It is so awesome! The doggie square was tasty too. Also, what was really cool was the "barista" and if he reads this term and gets offended, I am so sorry, but I don't know what else to call coffee servers. His name was Fraser and was very friendly and you could tell he really enjoyed coffee and very knowledgeable about it. What I really liked is that he wasn't pretentious in saying that all chain coffee shops suck unlike some other indie coffee shops. He said Starbucks is okay and that he thought McDonald's had really stepped up their quality of coffee. I really appreciate honesty and I hate pretentious coffee shops that have that "we are indie, so we're better"....ummm...tell me why...."cuz we're indie"...yeah sorry that doesn't mean much to me. Give me good service, relaxed atmosphere, decent coffee and an unpretentious attitude, and you got a customer in me. If you give me pretentious snobby attitude and amazing coffee, well, too bad...see ya later alligator.....and not in a while crocodile. P.S. think I've had too much sugar and coffee tonight.
