| - Worst place to take a car. Went in to get an estimate on how much it would cost for them to replace a few hoses going to the radiator and the transmission. I have a 96 Honda Accord that I just recently bought off a family member who used to take the same car to this Tire Works for anything needing done to the car in the entire time they've owned it.
Pay attention this is the important part. Having just sprung a leak in one of the hoses going to the Transmission, I have a buddy come out and help me fix it. A week goes by the car is fine just picked up my family member as they're concerned about having sold me the car and it being in this shape offering to pay to get it fixed where they used to take the car. Now after a lot of refusal they finally talk me into doing it as they feel bad, so anyway fast forward. We get to the place and talk to one of the mechanics, since this being my first car I ask them what other hoses or anything else needs replacing. He responds with the above, just the radiator hoses and the tranny hoses.
We agree and go in to talk to one of the sales associates, they tell me that the total for just that above was going to cost 700 dollars. That is bullshit, I had the burst hose replaced for less than twenty bucks in less than ten minutes. They needed to flush the transmission and clean it which is understandable, but I still refused. Family member said it was fine and again after much refusal she paid for it anyway. Upset, I ask the Sales Associate how much a tune up would be, car has been sitting around for a year, idle is a little low, and the car shakes a lot. He comes back in about five minutes with a spark plug covered in oil explaining to me that it's dangerous to drive like that.
My having no idea what the fuck that means panics as well as does my family member, which at this point is important to note is a Senior Citizen. She ends up quickly paying for this as well, this time ignoring my refusal. This, all of this in total adds up to 1200 dollars including an oil change. Now if you think all of this is bullshit, just wait for this part.
I come to find out, that the reason the spark plugs were covered in oil, was because the last time the car had an oil change the cap was forgotten to be put back on it, so it made the car smoke and she had to take it back to them. Guess who did the oil change? DUN DUH NAH NAH This Tire Works did, there was nothing wrong with the spark plugs, there were no Oil leaks, and did not require changing. But now I have 1200 dollars in new spark plugs and wires. You thought this was over? Oh no.
It's three days later and I have to go pick up my Step Father from work, my mother has their car and he needs a ride home, perfectly fine. Having been busy with work and other things the past few days I didn't think to check to see if they did the work right, so I get to my step fathers job I park and pop the hood. What do I find? Did they do the work they were supposed to? Yes they did. But they also left me some presents, ALL THROUGH THE EDGE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT OF THE CAR AND THROUGHOUT THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT I FIND THEY LEFT ALL OF THE PAPER TOWELS THEY USED WHEN THEY DID THEIR JOB. NOT ONLY THAT, BUT THE HOSES THEY CHANGED? YEP SITTING RIGHT NEXT TO MY FREAKING BATTERY. I HAD BEEN DRIVING AROUND THE PAST THREE DAYS WITH THE TRASH THEY LEFT IN MY CAR AND THE HOSES THEY CHANGED. NOT JUST ANYWHERE IN MY CAR, IN THE FREAKING ENGINE COMPARTMENT.
I come to find out, after asking their mechanic if he was absolutely sure multiple times that NOTHING else in the car needs replacing, new fluids, or to be fixed. That later on possibly a week later I took the car to get smogged so I could get it registered. Within seconds of popping my hood and doing a visual inspection, the Mechanic at a separate shop found that two of my belts were shot and almost gone causing me to have to pay thousands more to fix if they had gone, which the guy I had that replaced the hose that burst verified as true. Then after registering this car I found out that the mechanic team down at Tire Works also neglected to inform me that the Motor Mounts needed to be replaced which is why the car is shaking like it does.
On top of all of this, this Tire Works was the only company this car has seen for anything related to the car that needed to be fixed or oil changed. Yet for some reason it was not in their database and thus could not be looked up and properly warrantied. Which is extremely odd to me.
They will take advantage of you if you don't know what is what. They will overcharge you for menial labor. They will overcharge you for parts. The customer service is lackluster, the sales associate, after having spoken to my mother since she was the one that remembered the whole forgetting to put the oil cap back on, was "nice" enough to be willing to refund everything if we found the past receipt. I will NEVER be using their services EVER again, Unprofessional, and incredibly enraging.
