  • I was way too excited to have the Cleveland Greyhound terminal as a stop on my trip. You see, its listed on the National Register of Historic Places and whenever I come across one of those, my inner history nerd comes out in full force. It was built in 1948 in the recognizable Streamline architectural style that I find fascinating. Unfortunately, this place has fallen into the trap where because it is considered historic, people see it as old, which then translates to 'We don't have to take care of it anymore because it isn't shiny and new.' Shame. The architecture WAS beautiful but it was overshadowed by the fact that it was in serious disrepair. Tiles on the floors were loose, paint was peeling, and over half of the stalls in the restroom were marked 'Out of Order.' It was sad looking around and imagining what it had been like in its former glory (I realize I probably shouldn't have looked at all those historic pictures) because it just wasn't half of what it used to be.
