Place is dark and strangely laid out, with a weird raised and railed off island area, flanked by long bench style banquet booths. Menu seemed to have a large variety, but there are no substitutions and almost every item has cheese on it. Always makes me weary, as cheese is used to hide overly salty food and bland tastes. Had been here many months ago and was underwhelmed, but was coaxed into giving it another shot by a coworker. I had the salmon pasty, and let me say it was actually very good! Fish came out perfectly cooked, moist and tender. Portion seems to look small but fills you up very fast! I also had the coleslaw because I felt like I wanted something cool to balance. It was very tasty, and homemade, but overpriced for the portion. Overall they managed to redeem themselves. Great place to go drinking with the boys or girls and get some heavy food to offset the beer. A solid 4 stars but to those rating 5 star... I'm just not seeing it, other yelpers. What did I miss? Service was adequate but nothing special. The novelty of a pasty is not worth that extra star.
