I am half Persian so I appreciate a good middle eastern meal and don't consider myself a snob about it. For example, I would rather go to a small family owned restaurant than the elegant fancy dining experience. Plus this place is close to my work so I've been meaning to try it.
This place has a number of good reviews but some inconsistency if you read closely which is what I experienced today. I was greeted by wait staff clearly in training which is fine (help wanted sign in window) I was the first customer and not in a hurry.
I had the dolmas and shirazi salad to start and shish kabob plate.
The food was not fresh. The bread was totally stale. Like rock hard untoasted stale. And I love my flat bread so a bummer. The dolmas were probably from a can but the best part of the meal. Well the rice was ok but not hot. The salad was drenched in dried herbs... A very strange shirazi salad and it was not fresh! Cucumbers and tomatoes are pretty easy to spot as leftovers.
Finally, the kabob was reheated as I could hear the microwave. Very disappointing. The plate of food was barely lukewarm. Hot rice from a pot and kabob just cooked is steaming hot even if it sits for a bit.
The dough (yogurt drink) was good.
Sorry persian garden, my friends will hear my thoughts and I won't be back. Too many other choices in the area.
Get back to basics.... FRESH FOOD. I spent forty bucks on leftovers. Embarrassed for you.
