  • I've been the Duke here, off-and-on, for a few years now. It's in my neighborhood and is very convenient. I really really want this place to be good. Truth be told, under the new ownership, this place just isn't the same. My Friday group that used to meet here weekly rebelled on me because of bad onions and burned bagels. (We've moved.) The vibe has changed too -- less cozy neighborhood deli, more grade school lunchroom. The coffee continues to be fantastic, hence 2 stars. I keep going back in with hope that they'll straighten things out, but they can't get their act together. When I was there on Tuesday, I almost ordered a fruit/yogurt parfait, but I noticed that the strawberries were clearly moldy on the first two parfaits I looked at -- I told the employee... As I left, it appeared the parfaits were still there. Not a good sign. Sorry Lox Stock, you gotta step it up (and I'm not taking about the prices).
