| - Peeking out from the corner behind Taco Mac in Piedmont Row is Terrace Café. With a menu boasting S'mores French Toast and Red Velvet Waffles, there is often a wait list of people seeking an indulgent breakfast on weekends. If there is no time to lose waiting for the hungry masses who beat you there, visit on a weekday, when there generally is not a wait.
Don't want dessert for breakfast? No matter, there is something for every taste and moderation level. Terrace Café even has a few dishes decorated with the seal of approval from the Harris Y Express and YMCA nutritionist. There is an obvious partnership there, as post-Y workout customers clad in sweats join groups of SouthPark soccer moms dining among local celebrities at Terrace. No, not Ric Flair (WOOO!) this time, but jack-of-all media, Jon Wilson (WILSON!)
According to the clearly over sat server, the Red Velvet Waffle is their breakfast bestseller. It is surprisingly airy and moist, and the well-portioned cream cheese drizzle is just the right amount of sweet to keep that nagging "sugar belly" sensation at bay.
Eggs Benedict and cheese grits that rival those at The Flying Biscuit are stars of the savory menu choices, and dishes are presented beautifully on geometrically angled platters. Seasonal fruit tops off the gluttony, and beverages are served in curved glasses that look like they'll tip, but due to the magic of physics, do not. Your full belly may make you tip, though, after sampling the fine foods at Terrace Café.
