| - Gravady has so much potential, which is why it's so sad that I have to give a 2-star review. The concept and space are great, but there are so many issues that the whole experience just gets soured.
I decided to take my twin 5 year old boys on Monday for KidJump. I bought a 2 hour "flight" pass online, with the add-on of the special Gravady socks. I do not understand why anyone would want to jump in a public spot with bare feet, so the socks were a must for us. The price was just under $50, which is fairly pricey for just the 3 of us on "special deal." It wasn't super crowded since it was a Monday morning, so that was a definite plus. And just a warning: The time goes by super fast!
The space is absolutely huge, and for the most part everything is clean. There are definite signs of wear and tear, however, and lots of the foam pit pieces are tattered, ripped, shredded, and need to be replaced. Lots of the dodgeballs were old and deflated, etc. I thought there were great options for lots of things to do, including trapeeze, a rope bridge, tightropes, etc., so that was a plus.
The major issue for me was definitely the employees. I arrived at 8:45 to check in. Per the website: "Gravady's Flights start every half hour, please arrive 20 minutes early to begin check-in so you are able to begin jumping on time." Of course, the doors were locked because they don't open until 9:00, and they didn't open the doors until exactly 9:00. I was then "assisted" by two employees who had the hardest time figuring out how to access my online reservation/payment and get us our wristbands, socks, etc. That ate up about 10 minutes, and then we spent a couple minutes taking off shoes and putting our stuff in the locker (based on past reviews, I didn't even want to chance leaving our belongings in the VERY open and accessible cubbies). At the end of the first hour, which was more like 45 minutes for us, they announced that our wristband color was finished jumping. I was confused because I purchased 2 hours of time, so I asked a "flight attendant" nearby. He just shrugged his shoulders, without even responding. So, I went back to the front desk to get the issue resolved, which took off another 10 minutes. No apologies or smiles or anything, just a very "whatever" attitude from everyone I dealt with.
Mostly, I have come to expect those kinds of attitudes from people at the front desk area, or the clean-up crew, but I wasn't pleased to also see this behavior from the "flight attendants" while we were jumping and playing. None of them were interested in interacting whatsoever. Nobody wanted to show us how to use anything, and several just stood around chatting or staring at their phones. I also thought it was weird that they all had shoes on (?) and several were eating and drinking on the "field." Definitely odd. When my boys got up the courage, I asked a "flight attendant" to assist us with the trapeeze bar (they have to use a long pole to pull it over), and he said that they were "finished doing that for now." Honestly, it just felt like he couldn't be bothered. There were no adults to interact with; all of the employees were teenagers. Maybe teenaged employees would be great during "Club Gravady," but if this place is going to last, they need to hire interested, helpful individuals whom are a bit older or more mature for their age.
Also, I packed snacks with me because I knew my boys would be tired from the 2 hours of jumping. Based on the website, you are able to access the mezzanine level to watch others play, so I attempted to go up there with my boys after our 2 hours of jump time was up so we could eat a snack and watch everyone else jump, but I was told I wasn't able to. I asked if it was okay to eat downstairs at the various couches, but was again told no. So, we had to go outside and eat in the car. Bummer.
TL; DR:
This place is huge, fun, and has enormous potential. Right now, it's not a good place for kids. I would say it's best for teenagers and above. Maybe if they hired mature, friendly staff members and made this experience more friendly for families with younger children, things could improve.
