I've been on the hunt for a good Taiwanese restaurant and decided to try out this place based on their reviews. I have to say that my experience was mediocre.
From the reviews that I read, the service sounded like it was terrible and even worse for people who can't speak Taiwanese. That wasn't the case for me because as I came in with my husband and 2 kids we seated ourselves and within a few minutes we had someone come to take our order. I don't speak Taiwanese so I ordered everything in English and the girl who took my order understood everything. Maybe I got lucky that day!
Within 5-10 minutes our food started coming out and everything was out within 10 minutes. I was pretty happy about that! We ordered a variety of things because I wanted to try out my favorite dishes: green onion pancake, oyster omelette, juicy pork dumplings, and beef noodle soup. I also ordered the hot soybean milk... Which was so fresh and delicious! Made me feel like a kid again!
Here's a breakdown of the food: 1) green onion pancake- too thick for my liking. I like the thinner and crispier ones. The flavor was good but it was a little too doughy for me. 2) oyster omelette- the omelet itself was great! But the sauce they put on top was too sweet. 3) juicy pork dumplings- amazing. Perfect. The ginger soy dipping sauce complemented the dumplings perfectly. I will come back for more! 4) spicy beef noodle soup- it was good and not too spicy. I wish they gave me more of the pickled mustard greens though.
So was this one of the best Taiwanese restaurants I've been to? No... But the prices are good and the food, well, you just have to try it to see if you like it more than not.
