Our yearly music festival travels took us to the grand lights of Vegas! LIB festival is a three day Music/Art/Food festival like no other. What makes it even more special is that the festival doesn't start way early like some we have been to. Instead, they start around 1:00pm and keep going strong till 12:45-1:00am.
So who was performing you ask? Well I'm glad you asked here is a short and small list of who we saw!
Kanye West (and yes he did his famous rambling speech along with a poor me tossed in along with name dropping his wife and her birthday party at Tao later that night).
Outkast (20th anniversary tour. Nothing like some southern hip hop for our soul to dance and shake it to)
Girl Talk- The stage set up was awesome, the music mesh up was even better.
Phantogram- Amazing live! They played new and old stuff
Ekoh
Jenny Lewis
Lionel Richie- Three words "All night long". Mister Richie has a great sense of humor too!
Fitz and The Tantrums- One of the best acts to watch!
G-Easy
Ms Mr
DJ Mustard-Keep em bouncing
DJ Cassidy
Foo Fighters-One Word Dave Grohl
Arctic Monkeys
Broken Bells
Skrillex (great to see him spinning, last time I saw him he was still in his hardcore band and was shy as heck 2005 era).
That was only the highlights of the bands we saw there was also chef's who were doing cooking demos at Container Park
Saw and met Hubert Keller (a very talented and welcoming gent)
Chef Mike Minor and his delicious food truck (TruckU Barbeque) were there slinging yummy tacos and other naughty foods. It was nice that they can make your order without tortillas and they don't make a huge deal out of it. A bonus point goes to Chef Mike for handing the orders out and saying thank you. Their Short Rib Tacos are a must try!
We did miss a lot of other cooking demos. There are only so many hours in the day!
The food was spread out all over the festival (which stretched down Fremont Street and around nearby streets. Making this a huge easy breezy event with enough room to walk around and not bump into anyone.
Some of the food venders we tried were:
O face Doughnuts: Vegan and gluten free yummy donuts! Their menu was simple. Tried their "In Hand" Chocolate and Crème Fraiche Glaze. Everyone who was working the booth was nice. I even got to take a photo with the famous O face Doughnut!
Garden Grill Vegan Cafe: Like a lot of vendors they kept their menu also simple. Must try Beer Battered Avocado Tacos-IPA Beer Battered Avocado on a bed of organic purple and green cabbage. Topped with a creamy cilantro pepita dressing and Sriracha. (Drool)
Aloha Kitchen: 8 pieces of mini lumpia hit the spot for a small snack
Culinary Dropout: 36 hour Pork Ribs they had a great deal $2.00 per rib. We ordered two as we were trying to decide on what to have for lunch. These ribs were tender tasty and wanting us to order more (the ribs can talk!)
Function Juicery- Serving up fresh cold pressed juices!
Plenty of security throughout the festival, only complaint we had was there wasn't too many place to sit and watch bands play. Most of the time we had to stand (which was anywhere from an hour to two)
Bonus points for being able to see and hang out with our friends each day!!
