| - When we finally got off the highway, we pulled into the Shell gas station and saw the Quik Shoppe sign on the door. I looked at her and said, "Here we go!". When we walked in, it looked just like an average gas station but with a chicken counter in the middle. There laid the gold under those heating lamps, yum! When I looked back into the kitchen, I saw a woman I recognized from one of the countless articles about this chicken. I guess she's really passionate about chicken! (Aren't we all though? TBH.) They had a million different combos depending on what part of the chicken you wanted. I decided on a breast and a drumstick (boring, I know...) and my mom got a thigh and wing. I decided on the Mac and Cheese and she decided on the mashed potatoes. We figured we could try each others, so why double up? While the Mac and Cheese was disappointing, can we all take a moment to thank the spice gods for this chicken? It was the best fried chicken I've ever had. Plot twist: the chicken was just mediocre BUT THE BREADING THOUGH. I have never had breading that tasted so good. I think I de-skinned that piece of chicken in it's entirety and ate every last bite. Honestly, if they just served chunks of that breading with no meat, I would be finding an excuse to drive through Charlotte a lot more. Think about it maybe, Quik Shoppe? Thanks, bb!
