  • This was a fun experience! They had a Groupon deal, so I figured why not. Calling to make an appointment was easy. Can't say it was a super friendly conversation - all questions were met with "go to our website and read the FAQ". Albeit, the FAQ is pretty good and does cover all the questions one might have. The studio is located in a random industrial-ish area, but is easy to find. It's rather small inside, but there are several rooms/mini studios/set-ups to choose from for your photo shoot. It's all nicely decorated. And they do a good job at trying to create the right mood and ambiance. Sexy songs playing, Magic Mike XXL on the TV, etc. Upon arriving, I had to fill out a few forms. And then it was on to the up-selling. Granted, this is nothing unusual. $20 extra for false eyelashes. $20 extra for two cocktails. Extra for retouching. Extra for additional outfits/set-ups. Extra for a CD of all the photos. Etc., etc. I opted to pay an extra $99 to get two outfits/set-ups, a CD of all the photos, and 3 basic retouched digital photos. Not exactly cheap, but not un-worth it either. I was then led to the makeup room to get made up and have my hair done. The makeup artist was super friendly and sweet! She listened to what I wanted in terms of hair and makeup and delivered well on it. The only thing I disliked was the amount and shade of the foundation. It wound up looking fine in most photos, but there were definitely several where the makeup looked caked on. It was definitely a case of "have to go home and wash this all off before going anywhere else". But my eye makeup looked fab. Then I was led to the "fantasy closet" and met with the stylist. She too was wonderful! We went through the items I had brought and discussed different ideas. I felt like she did a great job on putting together my "look". She also assisted the photographer with lighting, with arranging me, with encouraging me, etc. She absolutely helped make it a more enjoyable experience. There are several photos that I hate, but that's more me not liking the way my face looks as opposed to bad photography. The photographer did a great job with lighting, etc. and really worked to make sure there was a good shot in each pose before moving on. After wrapping up, it was then time to checkout and pay. I was also given my CD right then and there, which was great. The retouching of photos, though, takes 3-4 weeks. You can, however, pay for rush retouching if you need them sooner. But honestly, with the pictures I like best, I don't feel like retouching is even necessary - and that's always a good thing. All in all, this was a fun experience and I wound up with some great photos.
