  • My PCP referred me to go see Ernesto Gomez at the East Mesa office for this group because I have a mass the size of a marble in my uterus that is suspicious. This was March 28th 2018. They couldn't give me an appointment until May 1st, 2018, where the physician and I agreed upon getting a biopsy of the mass, before we made any more plans. The next day Helen called me to schedule my procedure. First of all, Helen didn't even know what I was coming in for. First of all she said she was calling to schedule my hysterectomy... um, no. I'm 31 years old and I've never even had kids. Why would I want to take my friggen uterus out? No. Then she was like, oh, no, I'm sorry. We're scheduling you for an ablation. Again, no. Then she had the nerve to argue with me and tell me that is the end goal. I had to tell her, no, I'm coming in for a biopsy. She then told me I was coming in for the biopsy and the ablation. Um... still no. We hadn't talked about that at all. Only the biopsy. Then she agreed with me all of the sudden and started explaining the procedure to me, in far too much detail that I didn't understand. I knew then that I would have to talk to the doctor prior to the procedure to make sure he and I are on the same page since this person clearly has no idea. However. It gets better. I gave them my insurance information on the phone, prior to my first appointment. Faxed them my card within a few days after my first appointment because they lost the information. I was scheduled for the biopsy for May 23rd. On the 21st they called to cancel it because the doctor wouldn't be in the office. After a few phone calls we rescheduled to the 22nd and I was asked, yet again, to bring my insurance in. On the 21st I brought the card in, made sure the appointment for the next day was still okay, and was told it was. So I took the medication they gave me, which was absolutely miserable (and caused me to have my period all over again after just ending it), my boyfriend rearranged his entire schedule to be with me, and together we were on our way to the appointment when they called to cancel me because they didn't have insurance auth and Helen told me she wouldn't let me pay for this. So she cancelled it all on her own, without letting me have a word. She told me she would submit for auth that day and call me back as soon as they got it. On the 25th I called to speak with her about the auth and Helen then told me "I only submitted it two days ago, it takes a while". I work in healthcare, more often than not I can get auth for patients to receive appropriate home care, within hours. Completely unacceptable. I have had a marble sized mass in my uterus that was diagnosed in March with no answers, thanks to this ridiculous office. I finally had to call my PCP and request a different referral.
