I want to immediately say the sushi here is 4 start quality, maybe 4.5. It's always fresh and if you know what you like, the presentations and flavors really are above average. Honestly, when we have visitors in town, I recommend this place because the quality is great and I know that's what a sushi lover cares about most!
So, why only a 3 start rating? Plain and simple - quality of service. The staff here is by far the least knowledgeable about sushi that I have every experienced. It's clear they all want to be there because sushi is expensive and that's how tips get bigger. Bartenders are completely uninformed about sake, which should always be an easy sell with sushi. I had a server ask me to cash out in the middle of a meal once so she could go pick up her kid. Just in case the managers care to read these reviews, a complaint like this should always come with some advice. A better way to handle a server leaving in the middle of a meal is to transfer the check and let them collect all or part of the tip the next day. Share some knowledge with the staff about the ingredients in the kitchen and why customers should love the product. I could go on, but I'd rather focus on the food.
The chefs get it. All of the plates look beautiful. They have a high quality product and are proud to present it. I wish there was a place on the bill to designate the entire tip to the back of the house. Great sushi. Always fresh.
