I did not see the appeal. As a tourist I received a few recommendations to visit and was not impressed. I love open air markets and am willing to dig through vintage stores but my experience was not good. I went during the week around 4pm. It was chilly for me outside so I couldn't enjoy walking around as much. It is an interesting place for sure but I think it's best to visit with someone that's a fan of the market and can show you the best places to eat. The vendors there were very nice and I did find an excellent churro spot which I was grateful for. There seems to be some very nice restaurants in the area but most were closed after dark. The houses turned into vintage shops looked seedy and I didn't feel safe walking there alone. In 30 minutes I saw all I could see and was more than ready to leave. I came across a taco place which was very good. So food wise it's a thumbs up,other than that I wouldn't return again unless I came with a local and to try the pedestrian Sundays.
