  • I have to say I truly enjoyed my stay here at the Residence Inn. The staff was very nice and accommodating. I flew from Atlanta to Buffalo so after a 1.5 hour ride to Toronto, I was ready to get to my room, shower and catch my breath before hitting the streets to take in the sights. I had called early that morning to request an early check-in and with no questions asked, the assured me my room would be ready and indeed it was. ROOM My room was very nice and clean. It had a decent sized flat screen LG. Since I don't watch much tv I wasn't bothered that all the channels didn't work. I knew it was an Inn but I didn't expect the full kitchen with a range and dishwasher. The refrigerator was full size so if you were staying long, you could stock up on groceries to save money if you didn't want to eat out daily. It came fully equipped with all dishes, cutlery you name it. My view faced the front of Wellington street and BED COMFORT I have to give this a category of its own for the simple fact that this is important to me. The sheets and bedding was crisp and clean as you would expect but For $150 per night, I expect my bed to be comfortable. This king sized bed sunk in the middle and was extremely lumpy. I tried laying across it various ways for comfort but it was impossible to find my spot. On the last night, I decided to cover the sofa bed up and sleep on top of it. Pretty sad when the sofa is more comfy than the king sized bed. I had already unpacked and settled in my first night so I didn't bother to complain or ask to be switched so maybe that was my fault. Wifi was free so I was able to search things to do and Skype my folks back home. HOTEL BREAKFAST Another plus was the hotel didn't just offer continental breakfast. They offered pretty decent food. I ate pretty good every morning. Omelets, potatoes, French toast, fresh fruit, OJ...but stay away from that stuff they call sausage! LOCATION This hotel is walking distance from a wonderful selection of restaurants. Pizza Rustica had great Italian but if you stay here, you must walk around the corner to Joe Mamas. I had the best rib/shrimp dinner ever. Not only was the food plenty to brag about but the music was slamming! Reggae, R&B, Disco, Neo Soul etc..I dined in on Saturday around 6:00'ish so I missed the live band that would later be playing the same music that evening. While in Toronto I took one of those open bus tours for $35. It hit all the touristy spots and allowed you to jump on and off between 9-5pm. It came with a free harbor front cruise on the lake. There are about 17 stops on the map that you can see at your leisure. The $35 fare is good for 2 days so what you don't get to fit in one day you can fit in the next day. If you like shopping malls, you can do some shopping at the Eaton Center. It's about a 20 minute city block walk from the hotel. A taxi will only run you $8 if you so choose. Put on your walking shoes because this mall goes on forever it seems. Anyway, that was my Columbus Day weekend trip. Overall I give the hotel 4 stars. I could not give 5 stars because of that awful bed. When I return next year, I will be sure to check the bed prior to unpacking.
