  • After 15 years of teaching- it had finally taken a toll on my legs and self tanning lotion could no longer hide my spider veins. With the help of Yelp and recommendations from friends, I visited a few doctors around town- I decided on LV Vein Center. Dr. Carullo was knowledgeable and patient with my questions during the consultation. I planned to get the procedure during my two week holiday from work. I came in at 9 and left at 11. I became light headed and nauseous after the first injection. This was all in my head because of my fear of needles( I'm a big baby.) Dr. Carullo took a break to make me more comfortable. He turned on a fan. He played Coldplay( my request) videos on the tv screen to relax me and we moved forward with the session. The needle is what it is- just a prick. It was the solution that stung a bit. For the smaller veins he used the laser. The machine is huge and makes a lot of noise- but it was gentle as a feather. When I sat up to inspect his work, I started to tear up a bit because I had gotten so used to seeing my legs in a purplish hue and it was a welcome sight to see my skinny white legs in all their glory. That day I was able to resume a normal routine of house cleaning, grocery shopping, walking the dog, etc. Except I did so in a more gingerly fashion because my legs were sore from the injections. I bought thigh high compression stockings from the center and wore them for the following week until my check up. I made another appointment 6 weeks out so that we can see the final product and finish off any remaining spider veins with the laser. I'm so excited to be able to wear dresses and shorts this summer without feeling self conscious. I will continue to wear compression socks while at work to help keep my veins strong. I will probably make another appointment this fall to see if he can continue his work on some of the remaining veins. I understand that results are not 100% disappearance of ALL veins, but maybe I can get a few more treatments to have them a shrink even more... * I would recommend making appointment when you can rest easy for a few days after the procedure. * Take a shawl or something to snuggle w/ to help with anxiety during the session.
