I bought a new 4Runner last summer out in Medicine Hat and brought it in to South Pointe for its very first service.
There was a little confusion on the phone getting set up in their system as it turns out the person booking me in put me down for an oil change which isn't needed on a 4Runner until 16,000 km. This may have been because I didn't have the VIN handy and maybe the customer service person relies on that to get the proper information about the vehicle.
When I arrived slightly before 7am i joined the line of three other vehicles and promptly at 7:00 the service bay doors opened. A technician immediately greeted me, explained he would gather some information then send me with a ticket over to the service desk.
Over at the service desk they had lots of staff ready and waiting for everyone dropping their vehicle. Shaun, the service advisor flagged me over right away and got me set up fully in their system. He explained that the first service of my vehicle was just an inspection and that the first oil change doesn't happen until 16,000 km. Because I was going to wait for my vehicle he gave me a pager and told me it would take about 45 minutes to do the service and that I could wait in their lounge.
The lounge is quite large. There's about a dozen leather club chairs, magazines and newspapers, a couple of massage chairs, as well as coffee machines and a pop machine. There is also a kids area to keep them occupied should you be bringing them along.
Just under 45 minutes later the pager went off jolting everyone in the lounge area. Out at the desk Shaun was waiting for me with all of the information from the service completed. He gave me a report card, information on all of the services needed between now and 200,000 km. Also a gift card for Esso for $0.03 per liter off for 888 liters.
Overall a great experience.
