I come from a family who is genetically predisposed to "Sommer Teeth." Meaning some a growing this way and some are growing that way. It's not pretty and for those who make it to adulthood without orthodontia it's straight up ugly.
I began to notice my middle child had inherited this dreaded disease. He was the only kid in the 2nd grade who had only lost 3 teeth and by 3rd grade it was up to a whopping 4. The adult teeth he did have were to large buck teeth that looked like his parents might have been beavers.
I took him in for the free consultant and per the X-rays there was no room for his adult teeth to come down. When I was in 3rd grade I had 7 teeth pulled: 4 adult molars and 3 baby teeth because my jaw was just like my sons and lacked the space for adult teeth.
Great news! They didn't have to pull teeth! If you go soon enough(prior to puberty) they can use an expander to make the jaw wider and allow room for teeth!
The office is kid/teen friendly.
It doesn't smell like my childhood orthodontics office (a mixture of plastic, laughing gas, and children's tears) Dr Blackers is Fun and a happy place for kids to go. It's full of games, contests, and points for brushing!
Highly recommended by our whole family
