  • This review is long overdue, as my purchase was made last year. However, it is an important one, as it points out the safety hazards of La Canadienne Boots. Last fall I wanted to invest in a good quality Riding boot, and did a lot of research on different brands and their offerings. I ended up choosing La Canadienne, because I like to support Canadian brands, and because I had heard great things about the company and the quality of their boots in reviews. I purchased the new Stefania boot at full price from David's in October, and started wearing them shortly after. At that point Toronto had seen NO snow whatsoever, and I was shocked when I found myself slipping on dry indoor surfaces. There was absolutely no traction on the bottom of the boot, and I consistently found myself watching every step in fear that I may fall. I got in touch with Customer Service at La Canadienne via email, and a representative called me back and left a voicemail letting me know that there was nothing that they could do about it, and that they had never heard such a complaint before. I called them back, because that did not address my concern. The representative told me that "she laughed" when she read my e-mail because out of the thousands that they have sold, and that they had never heard a complaint like this before. I found her to be condescending and not open to listening to the issues that I was having with the product. Moreover, she recommended that I go scratch the bottom of the boot on asphalt to increase its grip. I told her I would do no such thing, as they were new boots. She did not provide support of any kind, and told me that La Canadienne would not help me in this situation. Also, she asked me if I stepped into car oil while I was outside. How she pulled this assumption out of thin air I do not know. But it was obvious that she was desperately searching for excuses to cover up this flaw with the product. I purchased the boots for $395 CAD+ taxes for what is considered a high-end, top quality boot. I regret my decision in retrospect.
