| - I was stranded in the Cleveland area for a night after my red-eye flight was cancelled, and the airline put me up in this hotel. (I know. A nice hotel, not a creepy no-name motel beside an abattoir. I was impressed). The hotel was extremely busy with lots of last-minute bookings from cancelled flights, but the front desk staff stayed friendly and upbeat. Apart from the usual hassles that come with being away from home and work for 24 hours longer than you'd planned, I actually really enjoyed this unexpected layover. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet (only downside: no mini-fridge to store food.) The pool area was surprisingly great, including a serious sauna, and I had it all to myself for about half an hour. I used the gym the next morning, which was fine, and the all-you-can-eat buffet breakfast hit the spot - a pretty good deal for about $12. One of the staff in the restaurant, a woman called Sue, was a total sweetie.
The only real downside is that the restaurant closes quite early and it's not in a part of town where it's easy to find alternatives, so if you're coming in from the airport late you might end up eating nuts from the gas station, like I did. On the other hand, I did see a hotel shuttle driver rounding people up to take them to Taco Bell, so the staff were trying very hard to help.
