This store is my go to spot when I can't handle the chaos of the local Smith's stores. In Washington I shopped at Safeway and loved it. Vons isn't quite as good, but I still like the store.
This location is easy to access at Windmill and Pecos. The parking lot is large and it seems like the store is never too busy. The inside of the store is large with open aisles and is kept clean. The store also has Starbuck's, Jamba Juice, and Panda Express inside.
The produce section is large and there is a small section of fresh organic produce. They have many pre-packaged salad and vegetable options as well. The meat section is my least favorite of all of the grocery stores that I frequent. There are few if any organic meats and the dates are never very good on the meat. I like to shop for meat for the week and it's hard when everything expires within a day or two. On my most recent visit they had lunch meat that had expired a few weeks earlier sitting in the case. I'm glad I checked and didn't waste money on something I couldn't eat. The dairy section has a large selection of milks, creamers, yogurts, and cheeses. They carry POG in the juice area which is cool since most of the stores in the area don't carry POG. I don't shop the middle of the store much, but I have always found what I needed in that area.
The check out lines are not usually long and the cashiers are pretty efficient at the check out process. All of the cashiers at this location have been friendly during my shopping trips.
Vons can be one of the pricier stores in the area if you are just popping in for something. Just like my beloved Safeway they offer online deals which are worth checking out. Deals get loaded to your customer card. This is one of the chains that actually offers deals specialized to what you buy. Smith's mainly offers coupons for shelf stable foods, but Vons will offer deals on fresh produce if that is what your buying trends show. I love that! I want deals on fruit, not Hamburger Helper and other garbage!
