  • First of all, I can fully understand the frustration out there and, my intentions are not to diminish these feelings. They are real. Rather, i would like to add something to the equation. Two things that frustration cannot and does not see. Being that of priority and common sense, First let's address common sense. Suffice to say,, there is no Common Sense 101, and that is why there are senseless acts and poor decisions (coupled with greed). The Phoenix population is growing, crime is on the increase, burglary, assault, , rape, murder, DUIs, and lets throw in a plethora of other crimes motivated by a poor economy and unemployment.. The politicians answer... let's cut back on the police force, cut back hours, and force pay cuts etc. Now, lets address the sister of common sense, priority. One example of priority as seen in the eyes of the politicians, AND THIS IS ONLY ONE EXAMPLE, of senseless priorities in the state we are in and have been in, , is to approve the construction of the Phoenix Municipal Courthouse.. The politicians approved 51.5 MILLION dollars, that's right 51.5 MILLION dollars to construct this edifice, God only knows the structure would never be functional without all the costly adornments, aesthetics, and lets not forget the marble. Bottom line, there is money, there are choices, and most of all there are more important concerns, such as a police force in correlation with the increase in population and crimes. What it comes down to, the politicians deem what is important, and short of coming right out and saying it, we all know there is much more to it. In summary, unfortunately , you can only do with what you have. The police in each city are at a bare minimum. Not to mention the officers lives are on the line EACH day they go to work. They put up with situations that involve grief, anger, rage, mud er etc. Something, the majority of us would not want to be a part of once in our life time, let alone everyday. In summary, i am saying that we all need to look beyond the oblivious, and look into the shadows to see who and what is lurking there. Barb
