  • I've been coming back to Bangkok Thai and Pho 911 for the past couple years now whenever I'm back in town. Now this is mainly a review for their pho, since that is the staple item I get whenever I pop in. If you're looking for a spot in CU to get a bowl of piping hot pho, this is definitely one of the places to do it (if not THE place). The noodles are wonderfully cooked, the meat is just right (because they do the proper thing which is place the thin slices raw on top of the noodles right before adding the steaming hot beef broth right on top, so it immediately cooks in the heat, but doesn't overcook), and the portion is great. Also the broth, it has dimension, it isn't a flat tasting beef broth, but rather, you can tell it's been simmered with its probably gigantic bag of spices for hours on end. For a large bowl of pho, it'll cost you under $10. Even if you get the one with all the fixings (flank, brisket, round, tripe, tendon, etc). The restaurant itself is very much a campus kind of casual restaurant. You order from a window, pick up from the same window, bring your food to a table, and service yourself with napkins, sauce, silverware/chopsticks, etc. Hey, if it keeps the price down, I'm not complaining at all. You even can grab yourself/your table a nice full pitcher of ice water and cups! No need to wait for any waiting staff to refill your water. I have had the opportunity to order and try their other dishes. Their pad thai is pretty tasty and flavorful, but their pad kee mao leaves a little to be desired. I haven't tried their curries before, so I'll leave that to those more experienced. Overall, Bangkok Thai is a bit of a campus establishment (alongside Empire Chinese food right next to it) and I hope it'll continue to be one for years to come!
