  • NO, NO, NO, NO....Do not even think of adding another headache to a move. Im a "maxi-minimalist". I have the very finest quality of my needs. I had a custom finished table, especially made to the specs of my hand loomed french floor rug by the Kreiss Collection. The lead crystal glass inlay is fairly heavy, but nothing a friend and I (100 pound and petite) could not lift and lower in properly. I had a personal assistant watch the move, for I got too anxious about my items being damaged. I would literally be laying under the table telling them to lay the glass in the bezel setting, not SLIDE IT OVER THE CUSTOM FINISH. My assistant was told specifics, and they only HADE THREE ITEMS TO MOVE. A Precor Elliptical machine, my couch, and the table. How could anyone go wrong with 3 items and two men, plus my assistant who convinced me that "as a man, he would be more respected, and manage all, blah blah blah". (My feminist mind sat back to my anxiety about the items...they hold sentiment, and gain in value with age in pristine condition. My table was originally $7000 plus custom finish, tax, shipping, etc...now 10 years old. ) I told my assistant to take out $30,000 insurance. He took out $3,000. (Again, thinking I would be mislead by "small print"....ugh) Of course, the glass was slid across the finish in several places leaving deep gouges, that now need to be sand blasted down to bare iron and refinished. My assistant thought the "distressed gold antique finish" was scratches. Did not know the difference between deep gouges and distressing. Nevertheless, he came back, and said I was going to be upset, they did gouge the coffee table, and he made sure the put a note on the form, and signed it as per the damages. (Good work assistant! Last thing I ever asked his help with.) He and I both called Red carpet, I talked to Kevin Pindel the general manager, Philip White was helpful until he left the company, I kept getting stuck with Luis who would say he was busy (getting his hair cut, obviously more important than my table or his job). I got an estimate from the TOP WELDER in the COUNTRY, and DBG INC Welding and Repair sent a hard copy and a 4 page fax and email to Louis and Kevin Pindel, of the areas he could "fill with steel welding rod until above level of surrounding metal and sand smooth". The estimate was just over $3,000 to repair as new, or they could ship all the way to california and have the actual Kreiss company repair it. LONG STORY SHORT, IT WILL BE TWO YEARS THIS AUGUST (and they if I do not get a lawyer, the statutory of time will probably have passed) as I have made over 50 calls, provided an appraisal on my time for the damage to be repaired, gone down in person to see everyone that brushed me off for a year. Kevin supposedly handed this matter now over to Luis Horna, and now I need to move. I will be left with a damaged table unless they wish to fix it and ship it to my new location. Or simply pay out the estimate the welder appraised to fix it. I doubt they will care about one customer since they boast about moving Steve Whynn's property and other Vegas names. I doubt they would even need one call from Steve Whynn if noted damage was done to his table, with a witness. I doubt they will even care about this post. Im just one person. Thank God I did not have them move my Beverly Hills Home! Ive been sure no one I know in the industry (Hollywood) uses them for their moves.
