We made reservations for a party of three for the thanksgiving turkey dinner at 5 PM and were the first diners to be seated. I was surprised, but agreeable, when our waiter explained that the meal would be served family style, since that seemed very much in keeping with the spirit of Thanksgiving, Our waiter, however, was the best part of the experience.
He first brought out three little rolls approximately the size of golf balls and three little bowls of squash soup in each of which was floating a little rice croquet. Having saved room for "Thanksgiving dinner" these morsels were soon consumed and the dishes cleared. Our waiter then brought out our main course, displayed on a large wooden board. What we were expecting was a traditional turkey dinner with a south american twist.
What was presented were three cylindrical objects each of which were about 1 1/2 inches in diameter and 6 inches long. One was made from white meat rolled like a brasiole and was wrapped in bacon. The second was supposed to be made from dark meat and was wrapped in what appeared to be the turkey skin. The third cylinder was supposed to be sausage stuffing but was mostly course sausage meat. Each of these was pre-sliced into chunks about 2 inches long and each was dry and lacked any resemblance to traditional turkey dinner.
This was accompanied by a tiny dish of very tasty potatoes and a dish of very tasty cranberry sauce the size of the dish that you get at a sushi bar for mixing your condiments. The service and the atmosphere were great but the food as a whole was quite a disappointment. Not an experience we would chose to repeat.
