| - My parents and I were wandering around the Golden Gate last year looking for this place. My dad, being El Cheapo Magnifico, remembered a time 30+ years ago this place had the best 99 cent shrimp cocktails. We couldn't find this place. He even asked a security guard about it, and the guy had no idea what my dad was talking about (probably because the shrimp cocktails are no longer 99 cents).
Lo and behold I found this place when I came back to town after much searching. I wasn't looking for shrimp cocktails, but rather a good diner-style 24 hour place to get a fat burger or pancakes. This place was definitely what I was looking for.
Tip: If you're stuck looking for this place, go into the Golden Gate casino, and it's on the right side close to the entrance off Fremont street, hidden around the corner by a cigarette vending machine and some slots.
I ordered a cheeseburger, fries, and a slice of cherry pie. The pie was amazing, and I wasn't even drunk or hungover. I'm excited to come back and try some additional flavors.
The cheeseburger and fries were good as well, but not the best i've had. The shrimp cocktail is no longer 99 cents, but plenty of customers around me were ordering it and praising its deliciousness.
My only regret was not getting to try the cinnamon roll, which my server told me, I need to be there at 6am to get a crack at. .
