We have been to Malee's many times and it has been our favorite Thai place in the area for years. However, our visit this week left us wondering if we will ever be back again. Service was definitely subpar and the food was equally disappointing. First, we were seated in the smaller dining area to the right of the entrance. There was a pianist playing on an electric keyboard so there was very little room to maneuver. I literally had to move the table in order to get to my seat and my husbands chair was up against the chair of table behind us. We were bewildered as the hostess kept cramming people into this tiny room when the larger room behind us was practically empty. When our waitress initially came by, we said we needed just another minute before ordering. 20 minutes later .... we had to hunt her down. We ordered the duck, the Burma chicken and a small order of the Thai chow mein. After another long wait the duck and chow mein were served .... both dishes we had never had there before. The duck was pretty good, but the noodles left a lot to be desired. First, the portion size of the noodles at $11.99 was definitely not worth price. It was more like a $6.99 portion. Secondly, the noodles were in clumps. Like they just dumped them in a pot with too little water and didn't bother to stir them to separate them. After getting half way through these dishes we had to hunt down our waitress again and ask about the Burma chicken. Her response that she didn't think we order that. I had to remind her that my husband specifically asked her whether ordering the small noodles and the 2 entrees (one of them being the chicken) would be enough. We actually came here specifically for the Burma chicken. It's been my favorite dish here since we first came to Malee's. For the first time, it was a huge disappointment. The stronger curry flavor with just a touch of sweetness made it stand out from other Thai curry's at other restaurants. Unfortunately, that night it was much heavier on the coconut milk and lighter on the curry. Don't know if they have changed management or ownership, but the service and the food were not what we had come to expect from them.
