| - If I could give zero stars I would. I am a professional female who had to unfortunately pick up her son from the city jail. This does not mean that this department has the rights to treat me like trash. It was 110 degrees outside, and I walked around to the gate to call someone to help me. There was no shade, a concrete bench directly in sun, and it was scorching. I immediately informed the person on the phone I was disabled, and could not handle heat with my meds. They told me I would have to wait 5-10 minutes; again, there was no shade, and I was in direct sun. Additionally, my disability prevents me from standing for an extended period of time. Officer came out, took my ID, and by now, I'm feeling dizzy. I asked him if I could go sit in shade, maybe my car because I'm disabled and my meds render bad reactions in heat, and sun exposure. He said, "No, If you want to pick him up, you need to stay right here". He was condescending in his statement, and said, " I'll be back in 5-10 minutes". Is this ethical? To be told sit in the sun, even though it is KNOWN a person's condition is endangered BECAUSE of the sun? I am not a piece of trash, and even though my son made a poor choice, he is not either. I have full respect for the police, and when people disrespect them, I become very irritated, but how am I supposed to have respect for an entity who believes they do not have to be respectful to the very citizens that support them? Shame on you!
