| - Quick, friendly service, but way too expensive for the type and amount of labor done.
The water heater was leaking, so both water valves were turned off. We couldn't get it immediately fixed and it was some time before I personally was able to look at it. I tried to turn it back on and it wasn't leaking any longer, but I couldn't get the hot water to come out. Later, I found out that someone must have turned off the gas too. Had no idea, but I really didn't want to mess with the gas either.
I called Sears, told them what had happened, and they informed me that parts were covered, but not the labor. I asked what the estimate would be based on what they assume could be the problem, and they said that it all depends and that it could be many things.
The nice technician Willy came over the same day we called it in. He didn't see any leaking and that's when I found out that the gas wasn't even on. So it cost us $89 for him to turn on the gas. Sad day.
After turning the water heater back on, it started leaking again. Another tech came out and said it would need to be replaced and would be covered under warranty. Luckily, we didn't have to pay the $89 again since they were just there a few days earlier.
Soon after that, they tell us that they will not provide another heater under the warranty. Going down to 1 star for their crappy Kenmore water heaters, terrible communication with management, and overpriced service & labor.
