I came in looking for tuxedo lace-ups. When the salesman asked me if I needed help, I told him that I just wanted to try on the Calvin Klein lace ups that I had in my hand. He then proceeded to question the rest of my wardrobe and insisted on me trying on numerous other types of shoes. I told him no and that I was solid on the dress shoes front. Secretly, I wanted him to know that for the most part I only wear wing tips and I wouldn't dare put on his boxy clunkers that pass for a sorry excuse of a dress shoe.
I probably should have given him a piece of my mind because when he brought out my shoes, he also brought out 2 other pairs of shoes that I never asked for. He was so pushy and tried to upsell me so hard that I just walked out. I went to another Men's Wearhouse out of spite and bought my tuxedo lace ups from another salesman who didn't try to pull any funny business on me.
When it comes to it, if you don't know what you want and you walk in to this store - they will try to sell you the shoes and the walls that surround them. Heck, even if you do know what you want, they believe you need more. The people that work here only care about commission and not the customer. They don't listen and they don't give truthful opinions. When I had told the salesman that I wanted round rather than squarish tipped tuxedo shoes, he started telling me about how that's not what I wanted.
