| - **Written from the perspective of a bridesmaid**
My best friend recently got in engaged back in May. Beckers was our first bridal appointment. I'll start with the good!
I think Beckers is a great place to have a first dress shopping experience. My friend was a little nervous or should I say, apprehensive about dress shopping. Beckers is a friendly environment with a vast selection of gowns. They also are fairly priced and they do carry some local designers and Canadian designers. The consultant my friend had was very nice and caring. She was well-informed and able to help pull appropriate dresses based on my friend's budget and tastes.
It was not the most perfect experience. To begin, some of the dresses on the floor were worn or dirty. I know that this is obviously going to happen when you are that popular of a dress shop. The place was absolutely packed, so I'm sure it is hard to keep up with floor sample maintenance. I just found that if the dresses looked a little worn, my friend was less likely to want to try them on and a few of them fit what she wanted. It was a little disappointing.
Secondly, the fitting room my friend had was on the small side, located away from the area where you are to show the dress off in front of the three way mirror and the whole area was extremely stuffy and cramped for the try on and exhibit process. It was also quite warm in the 2nd half of the store, where her fitting room happened to be, so things were slightly uncomfortable. I also felt like you had to fight over seating, which was kind of annoying.
Overall, my friend found a couple of dresses that she really liked (one of which I hope she gets, because it was amazing on her) and she was happy with the experience. Maybe because I'm a bridesmaid and it is part of my job to be slightly bitter and jealous of her pending nuptials, that I'm a bit complainy but for the most part I think this review is pretty legit.
