The place has not changed at all after a 20 year gap. Like me just older and not aging well. I had stayed at a sister hotel and was impressed with that hotel for the money. So I decided to give Texas a retry. The sheets were clean but the overall room was not. There was little smell of cigarette smoke in the room until I took a shower. Also the floors were dirty, fixtures corroded, and mold. The room needed a thorough cleaning. I ate at the coffee shop for dinner and the service was above average. The food was ok. I had breakfast at the buffet. I am gluten free and actually walked away full. A good balanced breakfast. Last fyi, there is no secured parking for guests, but the reservation person was kind enough to tell me where the security cameras were. All in all I felt safe staying here. Which at the downtown hotels has not always been the case.
