| - Haven't finished unpacking yet but so angry, I have to share what a lousy experience it has been - so far and I don't expect anything agreeable to be worked out. For starters, was directed to this company by Apollo Relocation Services who sold me a great bag of tricks only to discover the actual movers work under a whole different system - for example, not four men to pack and load, only two. Will get my stuff in 3 to 5 days; try four weeks and only after I threatened to report them to the State of Nevada. Paid through the nose for the service which included them packing - BIG mistake. Guess they haven't heard of bubble wrap yet because almost 97% of anything breakable - was broken. anything made of wood was chipped, gouged., or broken off. I didn't purchase the replacement insurance but I will get a whole 60 cents to the pound. These guys just threw stuff in huge boxes - no wrapping - all my pictures were found in a box without any cardboard protectors between frames. Glass was broken on a bookcase, on lanterns, glassware, thermometers, lampshades, pictures, plates and more. I wouldn't recommend this group to my worse enemy - then again, maybe I just would. The "binding estimate" I was quoted by Apollo was almost $2000 short... according to WCM which they wanted paid in cash before unloading my stuff. They also wanted to charge extra because even though I told them from the beginning that a 53' semi is NOT ALLOWED in the Park I'm moving to, they wanted to add the cost of bringing in a shuttle and/or charging per foot from truck to home. Unbelievable.
Ok, finished unpacking. Now missing our bedframe, bedroom lamp and heavy duty extra long outdoor extension cord. More items broken and rendered useless. More furniture gouged and scratched. Emailed them with no response - no surprise. My home looks like it was furnished by Goodwill - not joking.
Be smarter than I was - READ THE REVIEWS ON THIS COMPANY FIRST because what you'll end up paying far exceeds any quality, care, or professionalism you'll get from this company and this includes the additional cost of replacing (or trying to) what you'll lose. My next step is notifying the Transportation Services Authority, Nevada Department of Business and Industry - the ones who register and certify movers in their state - who by the way, don't show West Coast Movers on their list of registered movers.
Update: Contacted the Federal DOT group who referred me back to West Coast who forwarded a link to submit a claim. Not only was that what I WASN'T interested in doing as I just wanted to report a business that should be put out of business, but then I found the problem with completing a claim submission is that I can't weigh pieces that never arrived nor have photos of them, can't weigh a bed frame, can't weigh a DVD cabinet that was full of DVDs and VHS tapes, turn it upside down to photo the damage, nor weigh/photo the broken pieces thrown out after unpacking - THREE MONTHS AGO. To me, the Federal DOT just enables companies like this to continue ripping folks off - simple as that. My last thought on this company is that for those who purchase the 60 cents/lb. with no replacement option, your possessions become mere garbage to West Coast movers because they know there's not much you're going to be able to do about it. My stuff was thrown around FIVE independent times before I received it and with all the damage I received, the estimate to 'replace' was about $800. Well, isn't that useless. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY - FAR, FAR AWAY...!
BTW, I've noticed the only raving reviews were all written from folks living in Nevada. They also each received a response from 'Anthony M." - the owner, thanking them profusely. Interesting coincidence, no?
