  • We were swinging by Las Vegas for a quick weekend getaway, so I reached out to Philip T. for some Italian recommendations in town. Nora's was one of the off-strip suggestions. I tried to reserve a table in the Yelp app, but they didn't have that service available. Tried OpenTable, which had the restaurant on the app, but it didn't take any reservations. WHAAT! So third time's the charm, right? Called the restaurant and they said that they are fully booked and wait time could be up to an hour and a half. But we had to be there to put our name down. We were determined to try this restaurant, so we drove out there and was met with a packed parking lot, and a bunch of people gathered outside the entrance. We put down our name and were told to wait nearby. Luckily, we noticed a couple leaving the bar area, so we snuck in and found two perfect spots smack dab in the bar. WIN! I started with a Pilgrim's Passion to calm the nerves and ease the appetite... Gin, St. Germain, passionfruit puree, topped with a sprig of fresh mint. So smooth, so fresh. We ordered a plate of Mozzarella Caprese as the appetizer, which came with complimentary garlic bread. The fresh mozzarella with the EVOO drizzled on top was a perfect start to an Italian dinner. Paired with a glass of red and my cocktail, it opened up the appetite for a pasta dish. We ordered the Melrose with shrimp... Linguini, creamy basil pesto sauce, zucchini, sun-dried tomatoes topped with roasted pine nuts. and... Eggplant Parmigiana with mozzarella, tomato sauce and side of spaghetti with tomato sauce. The dishes were huge, and we quickly realized that one entree would easily please two people.. but hey, we're in Vegas so we smashed down as much as we could.. but boy, was the Melrose heavy. The creamy sauce made it rich, and really heavy. It was so tasty, but I threw in the towel after 5 minutes. The Eggplant Parm was really tasty, with soft breading and basil tomato sauce, it was definitely our favorite. The service was very inviting and prompt, and everyone seemed to enjoy the food and ambiance. It's definitely a place we would return to on our next visit in Vegas. And thanks to Philip T. for his awesome recommendations!
