| - I am a frequent traveler to Vegas because the mother of my child lives in Vegas and we switch off taking care of her. Anyways June 6 2013 I was looking for a hotel to book for my up and coming trip to Vegas set for June 27 2013. Like always I use hotels.com to find the best deals that fit my budget. Anyways I found this hotel (Baymont Inn) that was reasonably priced ($100 two nights). Like I said I am a frequent traveler to Vegas so I know most hotels charge a deposit or resort fee, which is understandable, but because resort fees and or deposits vary from hotel to hotel I wanted to verify the resort fee or deposit, so I called Baymont Inn before I booked it. I asked the Baymont representative, "if i book through hotels.com is their any other additional fees or deposits involved upon arrival?" I was told, "no". I asked again are you sure theirs no additional fees or deposits upon arrival, once again his response was, "no". Then the Baymont rep tried to get me to book directly through them which I declined because their prices were way higher than hotels.com. Anyways after the call and confirming their were no resort fees or deposit, I booked through hotels.com for $100 for two nights. Fast forward June 27 2013, My lady friend, daughter, and I arrive to Baymont Inn. After waiting nearly 15 min standing in line with nobody in line (rep was on the phone for a long ass time), the front desk rep started booking me in then asked for a $50 deposit. I was explaining that I spoke to a Baymont Inn rep June 6 who told me their were no additional fees or deposits. I don't remember who I spoke to on the phone but I remember he had a Hispanic accent. At first the front desk rep verified one employee who may have had that Hispanic accent, then when the manager came out she said nobody their has a Hispanic accent, the ironic thing was, their were Hispanics that work their. After going back and forth with the front desk rep he offered to refund my money, which was cool for him to do, but still upset me because the principles. Things like false advertisement, false representation, or even miscommunication is crucial for business. Now Baymont Inn just lost a customer and got a bad review on yelp, and clearly word of mouth from me won't be anything nice to say. The main reason for this review is the female manager who I spoke with during the situation seemed careless or out of touch with the power of social media. When I told her I am going to write a review on yelp about my experience she said, "do what you gotta do" as if social media means nothing. Anyways after speaking to hotels.com and Baymont authorizing a refund, hotels.com got us in a way better hotel for cheaper at LVH $79 two nights and they waived the $50 deposit but there was a 18 dollar resort fee which they accepted cash. My review on LVH is way better then Baymont inn.
