  • I suspect this is recent new ownership. (1) Because they were inexplicably closed for a while and (2) because they all spent a ton of time while I was there trying, unsuccessfully, to get the electro foot detox brain unit to work. Only new owners would be caught off guard by it being broken. I don't care about the foot detox gizmo anyway. I'd never had or seen it before. I looked it up ... and learned that those gizmos are not really detoxing anything, even though the water turns to nasty gunk that is supposed to be the nasty gunk that was in you. Really it is just a chemical reaction between the heating element in the foot basin and the salt in the water. So I won't miss it anyway. I went in about 6pm on a weekday. I was the only customer. My guess there is that the venue lost a lot of existing customer base when it went dark there for a while. Or perhaps the previous owners mis-managed them while trying to hang on there toward the end. I hit a bit of upsell, to the $30 full body hour, but I really groove on foot reflexology, so I stood firm. The foot massage itself was acceptable. I enjoyed it more than the one I recently reviewed as Star down in Chinatown, offering more true reflexology, but not as much as at Ocean over on Sunset. The venue here offers a lot more privacy spaces than I saw over at Ocean, so I liked that as well. The detox, according to the menu, is supposed to consume 20 of your 60 minute session. So without it, I only got 40 minutes (for the $20 + customary $10 tip). I kept one squinting eye on the clock - and I did indeed only get dealt 40 minutes of actual foot indulgence. Since the gizmo doesn't work, I am guessing they will eventually go up to 50 minutes (ie, a 'spa hour') on the foot massage sans gizmo. I'll go back -- it's close to home, the spaces are private and the foot massage was pretty good. But I think I'll let them have some time to work out the bugs first, about (likely) ditching the detox gizmo, repackaging their menu in light of that, etc. UPDATE: The owners PMed me to say they had closed in order to obtain a new business license, that is different from the prior business license, one that allows them to now offer body massages. They also thanked me for my feedback and said they would work hard to do better going forward (regarding the snafu I encountered).
