  • Royal York Hotel in Toronto, Ontario, Canada - 4 stars: working my way through the old Canadian railway hotels - this was the fifth we visited of the two dozen or so ... this one now owned by the Fairmont Hotel chain. Big downtown hotel (28 floors and more than 1,000 rooms) right across the street from Union Station. Great pool and hot tub with windows overlooking downtown and a see-through skylight. Stunning lobby. Did not have the chance to patronize the hotel restaurants - so can offer no opinion ... but the hotel's location is within walking distance of so much. Nice, quick room service in the morning. But for location, location, location - service - and an above-average room, this is a great place to stay.
