| - Terminal 1 is decent, with three different main sections.
For domestic flights within Canada, it's west jet and air Canada. I honestly haven't flown out of this part in ages.
For US-bound flights, check in on-line, and if you can swing it, don't even line up for bag check. Fill out a customs form (or take a stack and fill them out on the way to the airport), and your first stop is the US Customs line up. Usually about 20-30 minutes here before proceeding on to either drop off your checked bag or direct to security line up, usually a snap, once you've made it through the US Customs agents.
Technically, you are now in the US! Go red, white and blue!
Duty free shop is cool- sometimes with samples of alcohol.
Only 1 Starbucks in all of the US Terminal! Argh! Staff aren't your usual effecient Starbucks team players, and of course half the line up is ordering a "double-double"- Ummm, milk and sugar are on the bar out there. More than once my order has been mixed up and someone walks away with my scone. The yogurt parfait at this Starbucks is $7 but sometimes you just need a yogurt.
For lunch options, try the sandwich place next to the Pizza Pizza. They'll heat up the sub, which is huge. Otherwise, the Molson pub is too slow for airport service and the one time i ordered food, i had to leave to catch my flight- just as they brought out my food- which was incorrect.
Airport is about 35 minutes from downtown by taxi, 60 min or more via transit. If you have a layover for 8 hours or more, it's worth a trip to TO to visit areas that are not the airport.
