  • My family and I decided to go up to the resort for the day to have lunch and enjoy the grounds on the 4th of July. I was surprised when we arrived that it wasn't busy at all, but we were grateful for the peaceful noise and better (but not great) weather. We walked around a bit while we awaited for our 2:30 afternoon reservation. When we went to sit down (about 2:15) the waitress (and host) told they didn't have any reservations and that they closed at 3 pm. We kinda scrambled a bit and freaked out (we had a large family party we had tried to organize to get up there and no cell phone service to try to rearrange things), finally after making some plans to possibly go someplace else, they informed us that we could wait until they reopened at 3:30 pm for dinner. We were a little confused by it all but said okay as it was still the most convenient of options, it was 2:45 at this point. We had been the only one in the restaurant at this time and we just sat talking waiting to be able to order food. After about a half and hour the waitress stated she could let us order a few appetizers while we wait. We were appreciative of this as we were very hungry with young kids at this point. We hung out and ate our appetizers that came out about 30 minutes later and then waited for the restaurant to "re-open at 3:30 for dinner." We finally got to order our meals at 3:45 and then waited until 4:45 for the food to actually arrive. The food was okay, good, but not for the price (a plate of raviolis were $16) and several orders were messed up, but eventually corrected. When food arrived we asked if they could split our checks by family and bring them whenever as we were itching to get home at this point. The waitress said she could do that, and would get them to us. Another hour later we finally got out checks after much chaos and crying upset children and then the waitress divided them up after charging us 18% gratuity for the entire party amount for each of us (I didn't pay 18% of my check, I paid 18% of the total check of our whole family in addition to my own check!). So all in all, we got okay food, after a 3.5 hour event of chaos. I will say that the waitress was sweet and polite and I doubt the craziness was her fault, the whole place seems incredibly poorly managed. We heard a myriad of guests go up to the front desk with complaints, even a wedding party next door who didn't set up enough table and chairs for their wedding?! My daughter even found one of their ducks front the pond, dying, on the patio. We had a little circle of life talk that day, ugh. Anyway, I would stay away from this place with a 10 foot pole. Their only redeeming quality is that they are at Mt. Charleston (even though they aren't even in the really pretty part).
