| - Sorry my story's so long: We used to take our car to a place on Indian School in Scottsdale. It was the best- honest, very reasonable (I pretty well know how much parts cost, and how long most things should take). We told all of our friends. One of our dear friends, then a single Mom brought her high-mileage van there, and was quoted an insane price. Somehow she found Choice Auto- which was started by some (I don't know how many) of the employees of the other place when the owner retired and turned it over to their son. She told us about this right away.
I called the other place first the next time we needed something. Yup- their quote was too high. I called Choice, and got a reasonable quote. We've been going there ever since (2 or 3 years). They are honest, don't talk you into repairs you don't need (or even some that maybe we should have, but aren't absolutely necessary). They are very accomodating, I would even say kind.
One time they misdiagnosed our cooling system, but completely (or nearly so) filled it with water and coolant at no charge after they diagnosed it and found it was just about empty. I fixed that one myself. (It was just a hole in the reservoir- a $22 part online.) But in the AZ summer heat the coolant expanded enough that lots of it went into the tank and right out the bottom, emptying most of the radiator's capacity. I called and offered to pay them for their time and the expense of the cooant, but they insisted there was no charge. I don't think you'd find that at many places, sorry to say.
GO THERE! (I hope that not too many people read this and cause them to have to find a larger facility too far away.)
